About Casino
Casino is one of NSW's leading country centres set amongst the beautiful green pastures of rural Summerland Coast NSW. The Richmond River flows though Casino then Lismore on its way towards Ballina and the ocean.
Casino is around an hours drive west of Ballina and is famous for its Beef Week.
With its wide open streets, Art Deco buildings, relaxed, friendly community and exciting potential economic business strategies, Casino is becoming a sought–after place to live, work and play.
The retail centre provides a variety of outlets from small, locally owned and operated stores in the CBD as well as a number of national chains.
Sporting facilities are excellent with golf, cricket, rugby league, rugby union, football, tennis, hockey, basketball, baseball all available. There is a 50 metre swimming and two gyms.
Home to the Bundjalung people from ancient times, Casino was a central locus for Aboriginal culture and art, a rich history that continues today.
In the middle of the nineteenth century Henry Clay and George Stapleton claimed 30,000 acres of land close to the Richmond River and named it after Monte Cassino in Italy.
Due to a misspelling when registering the town, it has since been known as Casino.
Today Casino is renowned for its quality beef production, timber and agriculture and as the rail and freight hub of the Summerland Region.
Casino enjoys a sub-tropical climate with mild winters and pleasant summers.
